FC Edmonton announced their final signing ahead of the 2014 spring season, English striker Tomi Ameobi. That name may sound familiar to some, as Tomi has a pair of brothers currently playing for Newcastle United in the Premier League.
The 25-year old began his career with Leeds United in England, and has bounced around Europe in an attempt to find a long-term home. 2014 will be his first season in North America, and the 6'3" forward will be an interesting one to watch as the season gets underway.
With the signing, Edmonton confirmed that there will be no more signings ahead of the season opener. That leaves their roster as follows:
Goalkeepers: Lance Parker, John Smits, Tyson Farago
Defenders: Albert Watson, Kareem Moses, Mallan Roberts, Lance Laing, Eddie Edward, Michael Nonni, Marko Aleksic
Midfielders: Ritchie Jones, Mike Banner, Neil Hlavaty, Milton Blanco, Hanson Boakai, Massimo Mirabelli, Edem Mortotsi, Gagan Dosanjh, Horace James
Strikers: Frank Jonke, Daryl Fordyce, Tomi Ameobi, Sadi Jalali
