The Cosmos finally find their backup goalkeeper, signing Kyle Zobeck

It's no longer Jimmy Maurer or bust for the Cosmos, who will now have an understudy

The Cosmos have announced another roster move today, agreeing to a contract with goalkeeper kyle Zobeck. As usual with the Cosmos, no specifics of the deal have been made public.

Zobeck was previously with FC Dallas, who selected him with the 26th overall selection of the 2013 ML SuperDraft. Prior to turning professional, the Iowa native played collegiately at Valparaiso. He joined New York on trial ahead of their preseason trip to Dubai, and impressed enough to earn himself a spot with the club for 2014.

Gio Savarese had the following comment about the signing:

"We are pleased to bring Kyle into the squad. He is a talented prospect that will provide competition and strengthen our depth at goalkeeper."

The 6'1" 24-year old did not make any appearances for Dallas last season, though he did make four starts for their reserve side. He did make the first team bench on seven occasions without being called upon.
