Guenzatti, Murphy, Maurer extensions announced by the Cosmos

Three more players have extended their contracts for the 2014 season

The Cosmos have announced a trio of extensions, bringing Jimmy Maurer, Dane Murphy, and Sebastian Guenzatti back for the 2014 season. All three saw minutes in 2013, and will be important parts to a club that's hoping to repeat as Soccer Bowl champions.

Guenzatti started eight times during the fall season, and made two additional appearances from the bench. The 22-year old also started the 2013 Soccer Bowl, and scored his only goal of the season in a 1-0 victory over Minnesota United.

Maurer only started a single game last fall, keeping a clean sheet in the season finale against the Atlanta Silverbacks. He spent the season backing up Kyle Reynish, but will likely become the first choice keeper for the Cosmos this spring.

Murphy made just 3 substitute appearances during the 2013 fall season. He totaled just five minutes of play in those appearances, and collected a red card in the October meeting with San Antonio.

As usual, terms of the extensions were not disclosed.
