On December 4, the Cosmos announced that four players have signed extensions for 2014. Diomar Diaz, Hunter Gorskie, Jamal Johnson, and Hagop Chirishian all had a part to play during the 2013 fall season, and all four will be returning as the club look to defend their Soccer Bowl title.
Diaz made 13 appearances in 2013, including 10 starts and 3 substitute appearances. He scored 5 goals in that time, often carrying the attack when goals were tough to come by.
Gorskie saw starts at both center back and left back, before suffering a season-ending knee injury in September. Both Roversio and Ayoze performed very well in those roles after the injury, and it will be interesting to see whether or not Gorskie displaces either in 2014.
Johnson made only a single substitute appearance in 2013, returning from a knee injury in time to play 18 minutes in the season finale. Chirishian made four starts and three substitute appearances in 2013.
