Paulo Mendes' twin brother among Minnesota United castoffs

Minnesota United announced a trio of players whose options were declined on Thursday. None of Omar Daley, Pedro Mendes, or Michael Reed did enough to earn themselves jobs with the club for the 2015 NASL season.

Mendes is probably the most well known of the trio for Cosmos fans, as he's the twin brother of Paulo Mendes. Paulo spent a season and a half with the New York Cosmos, and provided several big goals during his time with the club. The Mendes twins broke into the NASL with the Atlanta Silverbacks, both signed by Eric Wynalda after working with him at Cal FC. Paulo rejoined the SIlverbacks in September last year after agreeing to a deal which saw him part ways with the Cosmos. It will be interesting to see whether or not the Mendes twins end up reunited again.

United also announced that on-loan player Rafael Burgos has returned to his club in Austria. Burgos is a member of the El Salvador national team.
