Armada sign two defenders, Matt Bahner and Shawn Nicklaw

John Geliebter-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Armada are set to begin NASL play in the 2015 season, and have begun forming the roster which will take the pitch in the spring. On Thursday, the club announced another pair of signings, defenders Matt Bahner and Shawn Nicklaw.

Bahner comes to the Armada from the Harrisburg City Islanders, a USL Pro side which made a deep run into this season's U.S. Open Cup. Prior to his two-year stint with the Islanders, Bahner spent four years at the University of Cincinnati.

Nicklaw arrives from Iceland, where he spent the 2014 season playing for a club called Thor. Prior to that, he played in the United States for the Wilmington Hammerheads, and also spent a year playing professionally in Denmark. He was a four-year player at the University of Connecticut before turning pro.

The pair bring the Jacksonville roster up to six players, well short of the 27 they hope to have signed by the end of January.
