Scorpions sign championship game hero to multi-year deal

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

NASL clubs will be making quite a few roster moves over the course of the next several weeks, but San Antonio Scorpions' fans will be excited by the one announced today. The club has reached an agreement with midfielder Rafa Castillo on a multi-year contract, though the specifics of the deal were not disclosed.

Castillo had an outstanding season for the Scorpions in 2014, capping it off with what was probably the goal of the season in the championship final:

Castillo's return will certainly boost the Scorpions' chances of defending their title, though there are still many offseason moves to be made. Still, it's a good start for the Scorpions in their attempt to defend their title.

This should certainly help the Scorpions remain as a legitimate contender for the NASL crown, which while hurting the Cosmos' chances of winning their second championship in the modern era, is certainly good news for the league as a whole.
