Earlier in the month, the New York Cosmos announced that they had failed to come to terms on a new contract with midfielder Diomar Diaz, and that the two sides would be parting ways before the 2015 season kicked off. Diaz wasn't without a home for long though, and has reportedly inked a one-year deal to join Caracas FC.
Diaz cut his teeth in Venezuela before signing with the Cosmos ahead of the 2013 season, so the surroundings in Caracas should be fairly comfortable. His new club is probably a step up in class from either Deportivo Petare or Mineros de Guayana though, and will probably be a fairly exciting test for the native Venezuelan.
Diaz was a key component of the 2013 title-winning side, but saw his role decreased (partly due to injury) in 2014. Still, the club will need to replace the 24-year old if they hope to win their second NASL title since the reboot.
Best of luck with the next step of your career, Diomar, and thanks for the memories.
