The Tampa Bay Rowdies announced a new addition on Friday, Venezuelan midfielder Juan Guerra. Guerra last played for Deportivo Laras, after spending the bulk of his career playing for Caracas.  He's the first signing since the Rowdies brought Thomas Rongen on board as head coach.

Guerra has made four caps for the Venezuela national team, including two during the qualifying campaign for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He's likely quite familiar with the state Florida, having played collegiality for FIU. He typically plays just in front of the defense, rarely venturing forward to join the attack.

Rongen had the following to say about the addition of Guerra:

"The way to build a team is through the spine and Juan will prove that he has the ability to create a balance between our defense and midfield. I’ve seen Juan play recently and what impressed me most was his ability to read the game, while also being a leader on the field."
