On Tuesday, the Colorado Rapids released a list of players whose options for the 2015 season would not be exercised. Included on that list was forward Danny Mwanga.
Mwanga spent the second half of the 2014 season on loan with the New York Cosmos, and while his involvement down the stretch was somewhat limited due to injuries, he generally looked like a quality player in his NASL showings. While it's unclear if Monday's signing of Lucky Mkosana means the club has no need of Mwanga anymore, Danny's release from the Rapids means that he's free to permanently join Gio Savarese's side if a deal can be worked out.
Personally, I'd love to see Mwanga brought back on a permanent basis, as he showed enough flashes of why he once went number one overall in the MLS draft to warrant taking a flier on. Regardless of where Mwanga ends up though, Cosmos' fans everywhere will be wishing him the best.
