Empire of Soccer* is reporting that New York Cosmos coach Gio Savarese has declined the opportunity to interview with an MLS side. According to Dave Martinez, the Cosmos' coach was asked to interview with the Houston Dynamo, but would prefer to remain with the NASL side.

On the surface, this would seem like an interesting decision from Savarese, turning down an opportunity to coach in the top domestic league in the U.S. in order to remain in the NASL. One would assume that most U.S. based coaches would jump at the opportunity to coach in MLS, even with the CBA issues the league is about to be dealing with.
The Cosmos are a pretty unique club, though, and it's not hard to imagine why Savarese would rather work with established stars such as Marcos Senna and Raul as opposed to rebuilding in Houston. Personally, I'm thrilled that GIo will be returning next season, as he's done a fantastic job with the club.
