Scorpions' owner doesn't believe San Antonio isn't in MLS plans

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

San Antonio Scorpions owner Gordon Hartman doesn't believe that San Antonio is out of the running for an MLS side yet. Reports emerged earlier this week indicating that MLS had narrowed down the field for their next expansion club to Las Vegas, Minneapolis, and Sacramento, but Hartman had the following to say when asked about his city missing out:

"I’ve seen the reports, and I’m feeling very comfortable that the process we’re working with will move forward as planned. I can’t say much more than that."

Losing the Scorpions would be a huge blow for the NASL, as they're a team that has shown a willingness to spend, and have drawn fairly well over the past several seasons. As mentioned earlier, the ideal scenario from an NASL fan's perspective would be for MLS to simply select either Sacramento or San Antonio, or even to go for the Vikings' stadium proposal which wouldn't see Minnesota United leave the league.
